Logistics Engineer 1
As a Logistics Engineer,
you are required to provide planning support for the operations function
to design and maintain the most efficient storage solution, material flow path, material replenishment methods, fleet management etc.
You will be responsible to ensures that material can be stored in the most efficient location and storage areas are designed for optimum picking efficiency to reduce the time taken to perform operational activities, efficient material replenishment to point of use etc.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Perform activities to ensure material is shipped, received, stored or delivered quickly and efficiently. Provide logistics management, analysis and support of inbound and outbound material flow.
Using the CPS Guiding Principles, lead aggressive continuous improvement efforts to Eliminate excess inventory, Manage material to PFEP-defined flowpaths, Provide development, maintenance and support of transportation requirements for the customer, including determining appropriate mode and carrier, determine root cause and take corrective action, Manage and support business unit or facility logistics activities
Lead planning activities and resources to support the operations function, which includes system support, designing/redesigning/re-sizing storage areas, the design and installation of racking as required, the management and replacement of damaged racking and other operational equipment. Ensure material is stored in the most efficient location and storage areas are designed for optimum picking efficiency to reduce the time taken to perform operational activities.
Re-designs and re-arrangements of storage areas based on analysis conducted with 6-Sigma tools and techniques.
Determine appropriate material handling mode, monitoring performance, and providing procurement support including interaction with suppliers or Service Provider, interacting with other areas service offering and analyzing potential improvements in the client network.
Oversee Physical installation of storage equipment and Material Handling Equipment and ensure compliance to design.
Determining need for, writing and following up on capital projects, purchase requisition, special work orders, miscellaneous interplant transfers, surplus equipment dispositions, and a variety of other documents to procure equipment and services.
Responsible for fleet management (fork trucks, order pickers, reach trucks etc) and other equipment used in operations including tracking the utilization and condition as an asset of the company.
Lead vendor selection, negotiations, ongoing account management with the provider and negotiation of required service contracts.
Manages the completion of own work assignments and coordinates work with others.
Responsible for reviewing existing and developing new processes, seeking customer satisfaction, efficiency improvement,
accuracy, timeliness, and cost savings.
Supervises other planning, dealer kit and support function resources for all personnel issues including performance evaluation, development and mentoring.
Incumbent is responsible to achieve PQVC targets across Safety, POU Availability, Record Accuracy and MRDR Processing
- Knowledge and understanding of 6 Sigma project management principles
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Develop and deploy creative / original solutions to complex problems
- Thorough understanding of company policies and procedures
- Solid product knowledge
- College or university degree, preferably in Supply Chain and/or Logistics Management or Industrial Engineering is required
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
- Able to work independently with minimal direction
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Supply Chain / Logistics or Transportation Management
- Extensive material distribution experience
- Knowledge of material handling equipment
- Working understanding of the various materials systems and how they interrelate
- Capable of working and communicating with a variety of company (all levels) and supplier personnel
- CPS Functional Job Role Qualified
- APICS CPIM or CSPC National Certification desired
