The Logistics Specialist role is a key component of our logistics operations, supporting the planning and execution of Aero's logistics operations. The selected candidate will work closely with the vendors and site operations to ensure timely and compliant shipping of Aero products around the world. The right candidate will need to be flexible in their thinking and actions, creative, and have a natural drive to find solutions for the business and our customers.
The Logistics Specialist is responsible for defined work or projects with moderate complexity. In this role you will follow an individual work plan, meet day-to-day short-term objectives, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning. In addition, in this role you will:
Negotiate contractual terms, pricing structures, and fixed demurrage rates
Interact with business leaders regarding freight forwarder / GE approved carrier usage and performance to increases visibility regarding over dimensional or urgent high priority shipments
Interact with other GE businesses to initiate the same type of usage and performance qualities in order to perform logistics operations more efficiently and to ensure GE’s exposure to liability is controlled by the use of experienced field technical personnel and qualified transportation providers during all phases of logistic operation
Drive information sharing regarding international transportation providers
Lead efforts to reduce transportation costs for businesses and assist in driving costs out
Manage operational relationship of 3rd party letter of credit documentation preparation and 3rd party export logistics for businesses
Track shipments from global suppliers and drive on time deliveries via use of daily tracking process with GE Routing Center, Shipping Lines, and Freight Forwarders
Ensure timely submission of customs document submission to facilitate fast and accurate deliveries
Facilitate use of required planning and forecasting tools to simplify overall Logistics process
Develop optimum Logistics model to drive the most efficient flow of materials and products
Pursue logistics functional excellence in all areas
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in Logistics)
Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or Logistics is preferred
Strong academic performance is preferred
Prior experience in export-import compliance, logistics and operations is preferred
Prior experience on modern logistics is preferred
Knowledge of US and EU export regulations, foreign customs requirements, letters of credit, trade finance programs, free trade agreements and international logistics and shipping requirements
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization
Ability to adapt to / drive change across a global team in a dynamic business environment
Ability to work well in a fast-paced and challenging environment
Six Sigma training is preferred (GE Employees Only)
