Fairmont is a specialty insurance underwriting company. We currently write insurance for propane dealers, fuel oil dealers, petroleum jobbers, explosives contractors, Agricultural chemical dealers, grain storage and handling facilities, natural gas utilities, water utilities, small to medium trucking companies and Wineries. We write all lines of coverage in most of these groups (General Liability, Auto, property, Workers Comp, inland marine, crime, etc).
This position will be home based. The territory will include Eastern New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire. Position requires seventy percent travel. A company car, laptop and cell phone will be provided.
-Conducts loss control surveys and provides loss control services for insured’s to evaluate and help improve their safety programs within the New York and the New England region
-Prepares surveys within 50 days of binding coverage evaluating the exposures and safety program and make written recommendations
-Conducts follow up visits per underwritings request and per the service plan or if requested by the insured
-Prepares survey requests via an in house web-based program
-Must be a self starter, excellent communication skills and have the ability to work independently
-At least five years of experience working as a loss control representative or in safety management
-A good working knowledge of DOT transportation regulations, National fire protection regulations, petroleum operations, and OSHA regulations
-Site visits require evaluation of management capabilities, effective operations, training practices, hiring practices, written policies and procedures, documentation procedures, vehicle program and property valuations
-Property valuations that are done require evaluation of buildings and bulk storage containers for electrical, plumbing, fire code and construction code adherence
-Bachelors degree preferred and/or experience in the petroleum or propane industry preferred
