National Heritage Academies (NHA) partners with community groups to build and operate public charter schools. Founded in 1995, today NHA partners with 80 K-8 schools in 9 states serving over 50,000 students. NHA is one of the largest charter school management organizations designed to eliminate achievement gaps and prepare our students for success in high school, college and beyond.
At NHA you will have the opportunity to work in a challenging environment with the reward of impacting children's lives. With our results driven curriculum and community of educators committed to tracking results, you will be set up for success at our schools, by working in a collaborative team environment.
Career Development: The dean role will offer the opportunity to lead and is designed to share and distribute leadership more effectively within the school structure. Multiple deans within a school provide development and coaching opportunities for teachers.
Professional Development: Deans will have professional development opportunities available to them including specific training, ability to attend conferences and participate in mentor activities. Deans are supported by a principal and director of school quality with decades of experience. NHA’s Service Center is also available with highly trained experts to assist in providing exceptional school based professional development opportunities and developing your teaching staff.
Deans manage teams of teachers and offer coaching through weekly classroom observations and one-on-one meetings. Deans are responsible for providing frequent feedback and evaluations that help educators grow and excel in the classroom. Additional responsibilities include reviewing lesson plans, leading team meetings, supervising student discipline, managing parent relationships, serving on the school leadership team and other duties assigned by the principal as part of this distributed leadership model.
Deans are accountable for leading a team of educators and developing a strong professional culture committed to success. Managing parent and community relationships are key to success and deans will be expected to maintain high levels of parent satisfaction. Student achievement, both growth and proficiency, will be measured and used to evaluate the impact of teachers’ development strategies and classroom interventions in student learning. In addition to promoting strong student achievement results, deans are expected to build a strong instructional team committed to NHA
