School Description: KIPP VOICE Elementary believes that college begins in Kindergarten. The cornerstones of our school are a caring and disciplined school community, culturally relevant curriculum, rigorous college-prep academics, and giving students the skills necessary to get to and through college. We strongly believe that a college education is vital to gaining opportunities in life, competing in today’s increasingly sophisticated global workforce, and fulfilling one’s potential. Position Summary : KIPP VOICE Elementary seeks teachers for Kindergarten and First Grade. Teachers will instruct ELA, math, social studies, science, and character development. In addition, all KIPP VOICE teachers will implement our curriculum and assessment programs. All teachers in Kindergarten will work in a co-teaching classroom where both educators share an equal load of responsibility and accountability. First Grade teachers serve in a single teacher classroom. All teachers report directly to the School Leader. Teachers are expected to work from 7:30am – 5:15pm Monday – Friday.

Responsibilities of KIPP VOICE Teachers:

Self and Others: · Build rapport with students outside of class (e.g., lunches with scholars, special events)
· Invest parents and families in their children’s academic success through regular communication
· Reflect on successes and areas of growth around all areas of teaching; seek to improve performance; receive feedback eagerly
· Work with coach, grade-level chair and school team to constantly evaluate and improve mastery of instructional, culture building, and leadership skills
· Use system to capture and check action items and prioritize work appropriately
· Enthusiastically participate in structured and informal learning and development opportunities
· Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a rigorous, joyful, and safe environment across the entire school
Classroom Culture: · Relentlessly demonstrate and embody the VOICE values (Vision, Optimism, Imagination, Community, and Empowerment) and ensure that students exhibit the same values
· Create positive, achievement-oriented and structured learning environment with high “joy-factor” so that students are excited about and invested in their academic excellence
· Set and reinforce clear expectations and routines that are aligned with the school’s overall vision
· Discuss, celebrate, and reinforce character skills
· Embrace and use school culture systems
· Design classroom space to reinforce school values and culture with obvious, posted examples of outstanding academics and character
The Teaching Cycle: · Set and hold students to extremely high academic and behavioral standards
· Deliver measurable student academic growth and increase each individual student’s achievement
· Assess every student’s mastery of the content and diagnose areas of student misunderstanding
· Demonstrate strong content knowledge; all information conveyed to students is factually accurate
· Model responses and provide visual anchors; lead students through guided and independent practice and regularly check for understanding
· Ensure academic rigor by asking increasingly difficult questions, accepting only high quality student responses and posting examples of high quality work
· Use high-engagement strategies (e.g., rapid fire questioning, non-verbal responses, etc)
· Set measurable, ambitious yet attainable goals for the year and for each interim assessment cycle
· Use data from benchmarks, interim assessments, quizzes and informal assessments to inform instruction
· Internalize standards and scope and sequence (for own grade/subject and the grades one year before and one year after) and know how standards are assessed
· Thoughtfully plan lessons and develop and implement specific strategies to ensure that each student achieves dramatic gains
· Create unit plans, lesson plans, or other instructional materials as needed to ensure student success
Knowledge: · Meet needs of range of students, providing extra support, enrichment, or variation of work
· Knows the essential content, concepts, and big ideas of the discipline well enough to create questions that teach and asses them
· Models thoughtful, joyful, and accurate reading, writing, and speaking
· Knows the learning styles and academic strengths and weaknesses of each individual child

· The desire and humility to grow as an educator
· At least Two years of experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom
· Bachelor’s Degrees (required), Master’s Degree (preferred)
· Experience teaching in an urban public school or charter school setting preferred
· Florida Teaching Certification or Equivalent

Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience. In addition to financial compensation, all KIPP VOICE teachers are equipped with a laptop computer, email, necessary instructional supplies, and extensive professional development.
