The Maintenance Specialist position described herein supervises and assists craft tradesmen of various skilled areas as a contributing team member in the maintenance and repair of buildings and all building systems of the College of Veterinary Medicine, Health Science Center ( HSC ) Surge Area, 34th Street Animal Research Facility, and other buildings as assigned. He/she coordinates the supervision, daily in-house maintenance, and outside contractor maintenance for boiler and chiller operations. The incumbent maintains communication with the superintendent, customers, and the HSC management team.
Reviews service request (maintenance, preventive maintenance, construction and departmental), prioritizes and assigns work, and insures timely completion in a professional manner in accordance with industry standards using an automated Work Management System; Maintenance Specialist is expected to directly participate in the work required to complete maintenance service requests
Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for multiple trades and one year of appropriate experience; or a high school diploma and five years of appropriate experience. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
