In accordance with general directions and established procedures, performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance duties related to the operation, repair, testing, inspection, installation and preventive maintenance of equipment/machinery, appliances, building fixtures and infrastructure. Performs duties of other Maintenance and Grounds positions as required. High school diploma or equivalent. Associates degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or automotive/ASE certification, plus 3-5 current, continuous years of demonstrated, related work experience in two (2) of the following areas, e.g., electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, carpentry, electronics or automotive repair; or combination of vocational training plus 5-7 current, continuous years of demonstrated, related work experience in two (2) of the following areas, e.g., electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, carpentry, electronics or automotive repair; or 7-10 years of current, continuous experience in two (2) main trade areas, e.g., electrical, plumbing, refrigeration or carpentry, plus a high school diploma or GED. Journeyman’s license (electrical or plumbing) preferred. Ability to obtain, within 12 months of employment and maintain thereafter, the “Asbestos Hazard Abatement Worker” certification. Ability to obtain, within 12 months of meeting the MECH program experience criteria, the appropriate level of MECH certification. Must have and maintain a valid Michigan driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to MHG.
