In accordance with the needs of the ages of the population served by KKI, the Manager, Clinical Social Work in the Kennedy Krieger Institute Therapeutic Foster Care Program has responsibility for the direct supervision of clinical social workers and graduate students in social work, participates in the development of training of foster parents and staff, develops programmatic supports for children and adolescents, and provides direct service to children and adolescents in foster care who have developmental disabilities or medically fragile conditions.
Provides direct supervision to clinical social workers and graduate students.
May provide direct social work services to children and adolescents in foster care, including matching of children and families, placement, work with natural families, service coordination, counseling, advocacy, and all other requirements according to the Maryland State regulations for children in foster care.
Participates in the licensing of foster parents including performing home studies and making recommendations regarding approval/disapproval of applicants as necessary.
Participates in the training of foster parents.
Participates in program development and implementation.
Participates in the development and implementation of quality assurance standards and programmatic policies and procedures.
Functions on a 40 hour per week schedule with flexibility to allow for the ongoing needs of foster children and the requirements of foster parent training in the Therapeutic Foster Care Program.
Provides 24 hour on-call consultation to clinical social workers on rotation with other supervisory staff of the Therapeutic Foster Care Program.
Provides required documentation.
Functions effectively with other staff, foster parents, and community agency personnel.
- Required : Masters Degree from an accredited School of Social Work.
- Must be licensed in the State of Maryland by the Board of Social Work Examiners, Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW-C).
- Must have at least 5 years of clinical experience with individuals with developmental disabilities or medically fragile conditions or in a foster care setting preferred, and two years of supervisory experience with clinical social workers or graduate students.
