Position Summary:
This position has significant in-depth knowledge of integrated marketing communications practices. The position manages the marketing communications activities for the business units assigned to it. It develops and executes on the annual marketing communications strategy for each business unit. The position oversees marketing communication projects from concept through implementation and is responsible for meeting operational and marketing plan deadlines. It also works with the assigned business units to identify external marketing communication needs based on the division’s overall business and marketing objectives. Furthermore, it defines and oversees creative/positioning strategies, allocates and tracks marketing budgets, reports plans and results to senior management. The position continually measures marketing program performance against stated business objectives to ensure relevancy. Proven ability to perform the overall duties and responsibilities of this position listed below.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Acts as primary consultant to business unit on all marketing communication matters with strong expertise in digital marketing including, but not limited to, social media, SEO, email, SEM and affiliate. Shares expertise and best practices for marketing communications. Work involves broad latitude for decision-making and review of actions through goal attainment. Establishes and monitors marketing standards in compliance with company policy, procedures and guidelines. Recognized by internal and external associates and business unit for marketing subject matter expertise. Acts as the central source for information. Works with TransUnion public relations and event teams. If applicable, involved in transitioning acquisitions over to the TransUnion branding ensuring their strategy is in sync with the overall corporation.

Acts as a business partner in their consulting with assigned business units to strategize, prioritize and align annual marketing goals with communication needs. Develops annual strategic marketing communication plans that ensure key messaging, positioning and measurable objectives are all in alignment with overall enterprise and assigned business unit goals. Assesses the impact of the communication strategy and proactively addresses with the business unit. Manages communication materials across channels to ensure integrated marketing communications throughout the organization including, but not limited to, all digital efforts including all web and eMarketing initiatives, sales channels, print advertising, printed/electronic collateral materials, direct marketing, presentations and events.

Manager provides a high-level review to ensure marketing communication materials are on target with the overall business strategy.

Develops methodology for marketing communication analytics including measuring response, leads as well as overall and project-specific ROI.

Coordinates and manages project resources including internal creative teams, advertising agencies, graphic designers and copywriters. Authorizes and manages all work by outside agencies and vendors for the creation and production of promotional materials, ensuring compliance to brand standards.

Plans annual and quarterly budget requirements for projects. Advises business units of committed and available budget and monitors actual expenses according to projections. Continually monitors and ensures that the most cost effective resources and best practices are used to complete a job for cost-saving measures.

Manages the conception, development and execution of corporate campaigns as well as business unit-specific advertising, utilizing brand positioning and attributes as core of creative development.

Manages extension of the brand strategy and gains alignment and understanding from internal and external audiences of key strategic brand efforts so it can be effectively implemented. In addition, it oversees the corporate brand standards and drives consistency between the brand image and its positioning. It leads, coordinates and participates in divisional initiatives to ensure brand strategy is communicated, understood and implemented.

A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or specialization field required with 10+ years of progressive experience in a marketing communications area. An MBA or MS in Marketing Communications is preferred.

Strong experience in Digital Marketing is required.

Must have demonstrated experience that indicates that the incumbent can think “outside of the box”.

Proficient in overall strategic planning, vendor negotiation, promotion, budgeting and communications.

The incumbent must be collaborative, problem-solving and experienced in change management.

Creativity, flexibility and initiative are also required. Manager has the ability to persuade others when necessary.

Must be well organized with excellent analytical and negotiating skills, combined with superior oral and written communication skills with a temperament to aggressively represent, persuade others, and negotiate in the best interests of the company.

Expert knowledge of brand fundamentals and principles.

Proven ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.

Accountable for delivering results.

Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects with varying due dates and requirements.

Excellent prioritization and organizational skills, including the ability to interact effectively with senior and executive management.

Experienced in managing departmental budgets.

Vendor management and negotiation skills must be solid.

Must have working knowledge of all software applications used by the supported group. This typically includes using Word, PowerPoint, Excel and database applications. In addition, must be able to functionally use any other software applications that are unique to the business unit where this position operates.

Must be able to compose and/or coordinate complex correspondence such as reports and presentations in a clear and concise manner.

Must be able to proofread the work of supported staff and suggest changes when necessary.

Must be able to speak clearly when interacting with others in person or while on the telephone.

Must be able to ask questions for assignments that are unclear or ambiguous.

Must be able to direct the work of others when projects require the assistance of others within the organization.

Must be able to work independently and in-group settings.

Must have experience functioning as a lead on various projects.
