The Manufacturing Engineer position is responsible for supporting the production of fabricated parts. Strong fabrication knowledge and print reading skills are a must. Appropriate math skills / education to support fabrication. This position is involved in the physical measurement of parts and the development of reports indicating compliance in a steel processing environment. Analyzing of inspection data related to customer rejections to determine root cause and corrective action utilizing strong problem solving skills. Involved with PPAP / FAI process in support of customer requirements. Serves as a technical resource for the manufacturing operation, and both internal and external customers. Actively supports the Division’s Sales, Purchasing and Operations departments, participating as needed.
Steel industry and product knowledge
Degreed Mfg Engineer or 3-5 years’ experience in an engineering or related position required.
Experience in the use of measuring equipment (micrometers, calibers, measuring arms, gauging devices)
Familiarity with the use of DFX files and CMM software for measurement / inspection process
Familiarity with ISO 9001:2000 quality management systems
Strong organizing and planning skills
Skilled in prioritizing and multi-tasking
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
High level of creativity and problem solving
Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and practices, CAD/Cam software, and Six Sigma
Proficient computers skills in MS Word, Access, Excel
Knowledge related to SPC and related software applications preferred
