POSITION SUMMARY: The Research and Marketing Manager is responsible for day to day management and oversight of the Houston Chronicle Media Group (HCMG) marketing and promotion for advertisers (B2B) including but not limited to the following:
Management oversight of a Marketing specialist team and projects related to all advertising categories/offices/teams.
Produce marketing requests, Sales Sheets, materials, projects and presentations and events for the various categories and verticals.
Heavily utilize research tools including Scarborough, Kantar, Omniture, Comscore for reporting and marketing purposes.
Hispanic Marketing (La Voz de Houston, LaVozdeHouston.com) – Spanish language not necessary.
All marketing requests and projects for the various advertising offsite offices.
Develop and execute co-promotions, contests, and events for advertisers and for HCMG content – both in print and online.
Create, propose, and implement partnerships to generate new and incremental revenue.
Coordinate the production of printed materials, ads, web pages, banner ads, and other promotional tools and products.
Work closely with advertisers, community partners, and HCMG staff at all levels.
Manage contracts and vendor relationship (advertising/marketing agencies, free lance copy writers, etc)
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: The Research andMarketing Manager works closely with Advertising, Editorial and Executive Management for strategic planning to maximize all HCMG revenue generating opportunities.
One marketing analyst reports to the Research and Marketing Manager. In the advertising categories, the goal for each Manager and Analyst is to develop programs, promotions and contests to extend the advertisers revenue spend. The Marketing Manager may meet directly with Advertisers to help develop projects to meet their marketing and promotional needs.
The Research and Marketing Manager seeks to promote the Hearst Media Services, the Chronicle and all subsidiaries in a professional and appropriate manner.
Excellent oral and verbal communication skills

Computer proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Powerpoint.
Experience and proficiency with research and reporting tools including Scarborough, Kantar, Omniture and Comscore, among others.
Ability to analyze data and apply results to marketing presentations
Works well with the public and projects a positive image of the HCMG
Works well with several different departments and all levels of employees and executive.
Self-starter with a positive attitude.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 8 plus years in marketing positions including management/supervisory experience.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: College degree in marketing, advertising, business or related field.
