DUTIES: Back to top MAJOR JOB DUTIES: · Performs a complete range of receiving assignments and independently applies the methods and procedures of warehouse plans and material handling techniques in storing, receiving storage, issuing and preservation.
· Issues and ships items based on priority, type of material, mode of transportation, destination and type of transaction to meet schedules and deadlines.
· Verifies quantities received with receiving reports, consolidates assignments such as placing, arranging, rotating, marking and tagging of items on pallets and in bin, bulk or other storage locations and takes appropriate actions.
· Uploads incoming shipments, scans bar codes, or keys receipt information into automated record system. Lays out storage space, operates automated material handling and identification equipment to include mobile stock selector and electromechanical automated equipment and transport materials to storage area.
· Handles hazardous materials and chemicals and complies safety, environmental and security requirements.
THE HOURLY RATE FOR THIS POSITION IS: $ 18.29 - $ 21.37 .
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Back to top SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least six (6) months of specialized experience at the next lower grade or equivalent. Specialized experience must include performing duties in receiving, storing, and assembling hazardous chemicals and materials for issue, shipment, and distribution, a wide variety of bin and bulk supplies, materials, equipment, and commodities using mechanized, automated, and manual material moving equipment, devices, and systems.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs)

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Ability to receive, unload and store items, checking against receiving documents to assure proper quantity as well as using manual or mechanized equipment to move, stack, bin, and position materials and equipment.

2. Knowledge of accepted warehousing methods, procedures, and material handling techniques; and of warehousing functions such as material receiving, storage, issuing, and preservation.

3. Knowledge of warehouse configurations, storage requirements for particular commodities, and storage documentation requirements; and of inventory procedures.

4. Ability to organize, arranges, and removes stock in storage areas in accordance with established procedures to prevent damage, deterioration, and loss. Most work requires the incidental or regular use of fork lifts, dollies, and motor vehicles.

5. Knowledge of regulations, procedures, and policies related to records maintenance and documentation including the use of tools and other equipment in a safe manner in complying with established safety rules and regulations.

6. Skill in the use of automated material processing equipment and systems such as computer terminals, optical readers, bar code wands, scanners, etc. to enter and extract data.

7. Ability to log or annotate receipt, storage, disposal and issue data on appropriate forms, to prepare inventory and production reports; and to screen shipping and receiving documents for discrepancies.

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :

Physical Demands: Works on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Employee may lift and carry weight up to 40 pounds and may handle heavier items with weight lifting equipment or with assistance from other workers.

Working Environment: Work is done inside and outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted area. Employee may have the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, and falls from ladders, falling material, or injury from equipment. Exposure to dust, dirt, grease, solvents and high noises areas while working in a mechanized work area or radiation, toxins, explosives, hazards, or chemical fumes while working in a hazardous materials area. Employee may be required to wear protective clothing such as hard hats, steel toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks and rubber aprons.

Other significant facts pertaining to this position are: Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
