This position is located in China Lake, CA.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

You must be a US Citizen.

Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal & Regulatory Guidance.

Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation.

Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

You must obtain and maintain a security clearance.

DUTIES:
The selectee will perform a wide range of warehousing activities, including receiving, storing, selecting, shipping, pickup, and delivery of general or specialized bulk materials and equipment. Major duties and responsibilities:

  • Verify shipments; match specific item identification by name, stock number, letter, code, quantity, or unit of issue on containers; unload incoming shipments; group items together; build pallet loads; and transport materials from receiving areas to storage.
  • Store, stack, palletize, and/or rotate items considering their use, size, shape, quantity, and special handling requirements.
  • Select and assemble items based on priority, type of material, mode of transportation, destination, and type of transaction; segregate and move materials to dock, and obtain required signatures before shipping/issuing items.
  • Maintain and document actions using computer terminals, optical readers, bar code wands, and scanners.
  • Drive and/or operate platform trucks, van trucks, stake trucks, dump trucks, and forklifts.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Material Handler without more than normal supervision such as: Receiving materials, verifying documentation, sorting and delivering materials without damage.

REQUIREMENTS:
Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.

A security clearance is a requirement of this position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a position offer or removal. If you possess a security clearance, please indicate the level and termination date in your resume.

Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Work requires frequent standing, stooping, bending, reaching, turning, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.

Work requires frequent moving of hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls while driving, raising, lowering, and tilting for lift trucks.

Work requires lifting and moving heavy items. (Up to 40 pounds)

Selectee may be subject to strain caused by vibration.

Selectee may be required to make limited emergency repairs on vehicles.

Work is performed indoors and outdoors, often under adverse weather conditions, and may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted.

Selectee will be required to drive motor vehicles in all types of traffic and weather conditions.

Selectee is subject to cuts, scrapes, bruises, falls from ladders, falling material, or injury from equipment.

Work requires exposure to dust, dirt, grease, solvents, high noise, radiation, toxins, explosives hazards, or chemical fumes.

Must be able to wear personal type safety equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
