Location: Sioux City - Leed Garage
This mechanic position will be assigned to the Sioux City - Leeds Maintenance Garage (District 3) and secondary mechanic responsibility of remaining district garages as assigned. This position performs diagnostics on equipment and associated systems to identify problems and repair needs. This position also performs diagnosis and repair of electrical and hydraulic systems including valves, pumps and cylinders. Fabrication and welding skills are also required. This position performs mechanical overhauls on gasoline and diesel equipment and related repair work on automotive and industrial equipment. Entering detailed, computer-based records of equipment repairs will be required. This position at times will be required to perform Highway Technician Associate functions which include working in or during inclement weather, being available to respond to emergencies, and operating various types of equipment, including snow removal equipment.
License: The person selected for this position should be able to acquire and maintain a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Air Brake and Tanker endorsements .
Drive Time: The person selected must maintain a residence within 30 minutes driving time from the Sioux City - Leeds Maintenance Garage within five (5) months of the time of hire.
Travel: Employee must be available to travel and may be required to stay away from home overnight during assignments.
Lifting: Ability to lift and load items weighing up to 95 pounds to the height of 55 inches above the ground.
Additional Requirement: This position is subject to pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as well as other drug and alcohol testing requirements. A post-secondary certificate or degree in an automotive or industrial repair field is desired.
Shift: Days, hours vary and are subject to call 24hours/day.
Experience equal to three years of full-time work in automotive or heavy equipment mechanic work .
