PURPOSE OF POSITION: To perform and communicate routine and complex laboratory procedures and analysis with established procedures and policies for the Clinical Laboratory department of a Medical Center dedicated to the care of infants, children and adolescents.
REQUIRED SKILLS: Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Capable of relating to diverse age and demographic backgrounds. Professional knowledge and technical ability sufficient to provide routine and complex analysis for infants, children, and adolescents. Demonstrate an independent work initiative, sound judgment, diplomacy and a professional demeanor. Capable of bending, lifting and standing; demonstrate physical ability to perform necessary tasks.
Associate's degree in medical laboratory technology, biological, or physical science.
MLT (ASCP) certification or equivalent (for new graduates - successful completion of certification within six months of hire date)
Two years experience in a clinical laboratory

·CUSTOMER SERVICE RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:
Maintain/Manage strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders. Respond to requests quickly and effectively. Maintain currency in the field, including maintenance of any necessary licensure/certification through continuing education, conferences, meetings, in-services, networking, literature, and/or seminars. ·PATIENT TESTING PROCEDURES:
Perform assigned technical procedures in the section; follow standard operating protocols. Operate instruments; perform checks, calibrations, preventative maintenance, basic troubleshooting from written guidelines. Perform and report Quality Control Procedures. Identify Q.C. failures. Prepare sample for analysis. Store and preserve specimen. Prepare reagents, assist with the monitoring supply inventories, receive and stock supplies. Perform registration, phlebotomy and catheterization as required by location. Perform routine procedures within respective discipline, including the collection and analysis of data which will affect decisions regarding patient care. Rotate weekend and holiday schedules as required. Cover shifts other than scheduled.
Identify technical and patient related problems or discrepancies. Notify appropriate laboratory personnel and assist with investigation and documentation of the resolution. Report and documents results accurately, completely and in a timely basis. Report problems and assist appropriate personnel with troubleshooting and documentation of the resolution. Provides excellent customer service to all internal and external customers. Consistently provides concise communications for interdepartmental hand-off of data.
Conduct, direct or assist in special projects, evaluations, experiments or research. Participate in regularly schedule cross trained rotation and demonstrate continued competency in various sections of the Clinical Laboratory. Participate in improving organizational performance through recommending areas or approaches for improvement activities, performing new procedures, collecting data and providing input to department discussions. Participate in establishing job requirements and goals; perform duties at the desired level of competency. Trains new employees and students on technical benches.
