Under general supervision, provide administrative support to the various clinic areas throughout Student Health Services. Schedule appointments, verify patient eligibility, collect and post payments, review and authorize clinic charges to patient accounts. Provide follow-up on outside referrals, scan medical record documents to patient records and answer questions about available services offered.
-Sit at a desk for extended periods of time viewing computer monitor.
-Constant patient and staff traffic with telephones ringing,
simultaneous conversations, and frequent interruptions.
-Satisfactory completion of physical exam administered by Employee Health Services.
-Participation in required preventative medical and medical monitoring programs which may include blood tests, immunizations, tuberculosis screening, Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogen training, etc.
-Position requires signing SHS Confidentiality Statement.
-Annual HIPAA training.
-Position requires signing a statement of understanding of the Dependent Adult/Elder Abuse Reporting Requirement.
-Work occasional overtime, evening and weekend clinic shifts.
Background Check Required:
This position is a critical position and subject to a background check. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background investigation including criminal history and identity checks.
-Experience working in a medical office setting with knowledge of medical office functions and laws/regulations governing confidentiality of patient records.
-Demonstrated customer service experience with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-Previous work experience in a fast-paced environment working on multiple tasks maintaining accuracy and productivity.
-Experience working independently and as a team without direct supervision.
-Knowledge of medical terminology.
-Skills to spell, write legibly and keyboard.
-Experience responding in an emergency situation, following facility policies and procedures.
-Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding.
-Experience working with Practice Management Database and/or Electronic Medical Record system (Point N Click).
-Working knowledge of medical record scanning.
-Working knowledge of medical billing/reimbursement requirements and procedures; health insurance plans, medical terminology procedures, and health insurance industry standards; insurance plans and ability to interpret insurance language.
-Skills to organize and prioritize daily workload to assure completion within set standard.
