The Department of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Services, Administrative Services Division is seeking a Medical Records Administrator to oversee the medical records function for the department. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing a department-wide medical records system that includes both paper and electronic health records. This individual will be responsible for supervising medical records staff.
JOB REQUIREMENTS Requires a high school diploma or GED and six (6) years of directly related experience, including supervisory experience. Experience managing electronic health records. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and database software. Ability to communicate and present ideas effectively. Knowledgeable of federal and state privacy regulations as well as state record retention requirements.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification strongly preferred.
POST CONDITIONAL OFFER CONTINGENCIES Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check, credit check, and driving record check, as well as TB test. Must have a valid driver's license in Virginia or regional state of residence.
