The Carolina Center for Behavioral Health is located in Greer and convenient to Greenville and areas throughout Upstate, SC. Our facility specializes in psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment for adolescents, adults and senior adults. To meet the diverse needs of the community, an array of inpatient, partial hospitalization, and outpatient programs focused on mental health and substance abuse treatments are offered.

Various shifts available. PRN (as needed). A 2nd shift part-time and a 3rd Shift Fulltime position are also available

Good job for CNAs, Nursing students and Psychology graduates. Must be able to attend 5-day classroom orientation 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and a three to five day orientation on patient units from 7:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

When on the geriatric unit, you will change patient diapers and give baths to patients.

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES : To provide direct patient care under the supervision of an RN to adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. To ensure the safety and well being of these patients and to support the maintenance of therapeutic milieu.


1. Conducts 15 minute rounds on patients.

2. Assist patients who are prone to fall when walking or sitting.

3. Participate in restraint and seclusion of patients when required.

4. Push patients in wheelchairs when required.

5. Supports facility service excellence standards.

6. Complies with facility safety, infection control and security program.

7. Maintains desirable pattern of attendance, punctuality, and productivity.

8. Maintains a safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for patients.

9. Carries patient luggage.

10. Assist patients if an emergency evacuation is required.

11. Give baths to patients and change patient’s briefs.

12. Participate in implementing patients’ treatment plans by; (a) monitoring patients’ progress; (b) communicating information regarding patients’ behavior to other members of treatment team; (c) maintains communication with patient, family members and referral sources in patient’s interest; (d) facilitates or co-facilitates didactic groups, community meetings, or drug or alcohol education groups; (e) encouraging and facilitating patients’ participation in therapeutic activities; (f) supervising patients to ensure their safety and their involvement in treatment; (g) providing input during shift report.

14. Maintain patient, program, department and related documentation.

15. Participates in treatment planning: (a) helps identify patients’ problems, needs and strengths; (b) suggesting modifications to treatment plan based on observations of patients’ behavior; (c) providing input into discharge planning.

16. Accompany patients as assigned (i.e. take patients cafeteria, smoke breaks, etc).

17. Help maintain the therapeutic milieu on the unit, including, but not limited to, to facilitation of community meetings

18. Orient new patients to unit program and milieu.


19. Carry out general nursing care assistance, appropriate to the patient population as assigned and supervised by nurse in charge.

20. Carry out clerical and administrative assignment to support patient care and department and organization operations.

21. Participates in activities which enhance development of professional knowledge and skills.

22. Demonstrates conduct in keeping with CCBH’s ethical standards.



High school level reading and writing skills. Acceptable oral and written communication skills/ legible handwriting skills. Ability to maintain information as highly confidential. Professional telephone etiquette and customer service skills by phone and face to face are critical. Certification as nursing assistant or patient care technician and/or familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred. Skills in dealing courteously with the public and other staff within the organization. A basic knowledge of human behavior or principles of psychology will be very useful as well as skills in prioritizing and in managing time.

In the absence of any of these qualifications upon hire, employee must demonstrate the ability to learn these concepts and develop these skills within a reasonable time frame via the organization’s orientation and training program.
