This position is located in the Pennino building in Fairfax, Virginia. The Multicultural and Community Planner works in partnership with all program areas in the Adult and Aging Division in two major capacities: develops and implements a multicultural and community outreach plan; and manages the Area Agency on Aging's state-mandated Area Plan. Conducts meetings with community members and groups to determine needs of the older adult multicultural population. Develops community partnerships to support outreach to those who could benefit from services offered or arranged by the Department of Family Services. Provides leadership in the development of programs specific to particular older adult ethnic groups. Supports the ongoing management of the outreach programs, providing oversight, recruitment and training of volunteers; planning and implementation of volunteer recognition events; and other duties as needed to support community partners and volunteers in working with the older adult population. Works with the AAA's Manager of Communications to develop education campaigns directed towards Fairfax County's ethnically diverse older adults and their caregivers in the community. Participates in countywide planning, analysis, reporting, and advocacy on behalf of the county's older adults. Works with AAA Director and Adult & Aging managers and finance staff to compile data and projections for Area Plan and to ensure compliance with state requirements. Presents Area Plan to Commission on Aging for review and approval. Prepares and submits other reports required by the Virginia Department of Aging and Rehabilitative Services. Occasional weekend and evening meetings may be required.

Minimum

Qualifications:
Education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in business or public administration or any human services related field and two years of professional work experience related to program development and management, community outreach, or data management.

Requirements:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a check of the Child Protective Services Registry, and a driver's record check to the satisfaction of employer.

Preferred

Qualifications:
Bilingual ability is a plus. Experience working with older adults and with multicultural communities. Knowledge of the needs of the older adult population and available resources for them in Fairfax County. Knowledge of the resources available to the multicultural population in Fairfax County. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office applications. Data analysis experience. Clear and concise oral and written communication skills.
