This position reports to the Assistant Shop Manager. The work schedule is currently Monday thru Friday 6a.m. to 4:30p.m. and Saturday 6a.m. to 2p.m. The work area is an open fabrication shop facility subject to the cold and heat of the day. The primary task the operator will perform is operate CNC machines to cut and prepare steel angles, channel and beams per engineering drawings using the safest work practices per company JHA or SSP. The operator will use overhead cranes, forklift, spotters to position steel material and pieces in the appropriate position on the machine and laydown areas to process the material. This employee will be on their feet 8-10 hours per day operating the computer controlled machine, moving materials, loading and unloading the machine and maintaining housekeeping and a safe work area. The operator will climb, twist, squat, bend and to be very mobile throughout the day. As the workload dictates this employee will be asked to perform other facility related duties.
Able and willing to perform the work using the safest work practices possible utilizing KMEC Job Hazards Analysis (JHA) and Site Specific Procedures (SSP).

a minimum of 1 years experience working in this type of capacity in the steel fabrication industry.
Demonstrated CNC skills.
Ability to read engineering drawings and work to those specifications.
able to work the business driven schedule and be flexible to work in other areas as required.
