This position is responsible for all aspects of mail handling as well as filling in as a handworker when needed.
Job Duties / Responsibilities:
Pull mail sacks (hang, pull and pile mail sacks).
Adhere to established procedures for each machine while job is being set up.
Adhere to established procedures for each machine while it is running.
Adhere to established procedures for each machine when the job is completed.
Coordinates flow of finished mail from mailers to loading dock.
Operate hand and electric “walk-behind” lift trucks.
Assists operator, as needed, to ensure continual machine operation.
Completes all applicable paperwork to include skid tags and load tags.
Wrap and weigh completed skids.
Band skids as required.
Construct boxes as required.
Adhere to established Finishing Department equipment procedures.
Demonstrate good housekeeping attitudes and practices.
Support the Deming effort throughout the Company.
Adhere to safety policies and procedures, while maintaining an overall awareness of safety within the workplace.
Perform other job related duties as may be assigned or required.
Act in a Handworker capacity when needed:
Feed and take away on all binding lines.
Sort and ticket on all mail lines.
Operate three – hole punch and hand stitcher as required.
Perform all off – line handwork, including but not limited to the following: Pre-ticketing, bulk mail, label application, envelope stuffing, collating and separation of pages, and hand tipping.
A minimum of a high school diploma or GED required
Manual dexterity required to grasp, move, stack and manipulate parts of or finished magazines.
Ability to lift mail sacks, cartons and skids up to a maximum of 70 lbs. continuously.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Required to work mandatory overtime as needed.
