Champion Technologies is hiring a Maintenance and Engineering Superintendent in our Odessa Facility. The Maintenance and Engineering Superintendent is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of Maintenance and Capital Project work on a daily basis in the Odessa Plant. This includes leadership of the Odessa Maintenance Department (1 Maintenance Supervisor, 5 Maintenance Technicians, and Contractor Coordinator), as well as oversight and direction of contractors executing maintenance or capital project work in the Odessa Plant. This position will also manage the technical talent at the Odessa plant which includes Chemists and Engineers who are responsible to develop and improve the manufacturing process, design and manage low level capital projects, design solutions to process and production issues, and manage the sites chemistry (new product scale up, PI sheet changes, MMOC’s, raw material changes, investigation correction and prevention of off-spec batches, improving cycle times though process improvements, etc.). This position will work closely with all functional departments throughout the organization including Production, Scheduling, Logistics, Materials Movement, Quality Control, Corporate Engineering, and QHSSE.


Provides direction and leadership to the Odessa Maintenance and Engineering Teams; Including performance management, goals, succession planning, career development, coaching, mentoring, and routine performance reviews for their direct reports.

Participating in the Odessa Plants Leadership Team which drives the strategic direction of the plant.

Directs construction and capital project completion at the plant.

Review spending patterns and trends to achieve the maintenance and capital project budgets of approximately $1MM and $ 6 MM respectively.

Manage the use of eMaint (CMMS) to ensure the routine maintenance work flow process is optimized and efficient.

Work with the technical team to provide engineering and technical support for manufacturing operations. This includes new product scale up, PI sheet changes, MMOC’s, raw material changes, investigation correction and prevention of off-spec batches, improving cycle times though process improvements, etc.

Manages the sites PSM Mechanical Integrity Program and Preventative Maintenance Program for fixed and rotating equipment.

Developing the design and scope of low dollar capital projects (< $ 100K) as well as complex repair plans for critical equipment.


Bachelors degree (Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering), certificate, diploma gained through a college/university.

5 – 10+ years of Maintenance Supervisory or Engineering experience in a chemical or petrochemical facility.

5 – 10+ years experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.


MBA is strongly preferred.

Familiarity with installation and repair methods for rotating equipment, piping, pressure vessels, valves, pressure relief devices and I&E.

Familiarity with implementing and maintaining a site-wide Mechanical Integrity program.

Understanding of and previous training in ASME piping and vessel Codes (Section VIII, Division 1 and B31.3) and API Inspection Codes (API 510, 570 and 653) is also preferred.
