This temporary full-time position is responsible for providing day-to-day maintenance services to Institute housing. Including but not limited to apartments, houses or dorms. Will also provide assistance with various projects and events.
Must provide professional customer service to internal and external customers. Resolves routine problems in a thorough and timely manner either with a team of maintenance workers or unsupervised.
Will provide basic repairs to housing structures to insure all dwellings are clean and safe to tenants. Respond immediately to emergency maintenance requests in the building or other areas as requested.
General plumbing knowledge consists of flushing drains, unclogging pipes, and fixing leaky faucets. Repair or replace garbage disposals, sinks, and bathroom or kitchen faucets.
Basic carpentry skills include assembling, repairing or replacing wooden desks, chairs, doors, door frames, windows, window frames and bookshelves. Repair or replacement of windows blinds or curtains. Repair to rods, handles, knobs or cabinets.
May be required to solve electrical problems such as faulty light switches, dead light bulbs and wall sockets. Ensure that electrical systems are operating safely and efficiently and report any problems to the Maintenance Supervisor immediately.
Some painting. Replacing drywall, patching interiors or exterior walls.
Move furniture, tables and chairs. Pickup and delivery of boxes, parts or supplies.
Perform general cleaning of buildings or properties.
Other duties as assigned.
May require weekend or after hour work.
Must have a High school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of relevant work experience.
Must have a valid driver's license and maintain it throughout the course of employment.
Must understand basic math and measurements.
Must comprehend and follow basic instructions and ask questions to clarify when needed.
Must have some handiwork experience and be comfortable using power tools.
Must be in good physical condition to climb ladders, stand, walk, kneel and crouch for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs of tools, supplies, ladders and other heavy equipment.
12 months in similar field.
