Responsible for directing and supervising the daily operations / activities of the facilities maintenance department. Responsible for directing the repair and upkeep of the facility, grounds and equipment, and developing, managing and supervising budget, procurement and contracting activities. Duties include establishing maintenance priorities and developing long and short term goals.
Duties for this position include:
Developing, implementing, and overseeing all facility programs involving buildings and grounds, building structure, building equipment and property.
Providing a safe hazard-free environment for all residents/staff/visitors to include the structural building, grounds and all equipment.
Assessing any and all work required and overseeing the contract work that is done at LCM ensuring all work is per regulation.
Accountable to assigning work appropriately, developing work schedules, hires, trains, and develops and monitors all staff.
Formulating policy and procedures for security, maintenance and grounds.
Effectively applying discipline, safety and work rules. Ensures compliance with policy and procedure of LCM.
Effectively maintaining compliance with State and Federal regulations as well as all accreditation and local agencies.
Ensuring that departmental staff are performing within the guidelines of policies and procedures.
Preparing and updating all record keeping required by LCM, DOH and accreditation agencies.
Assessing, implementing and monitoring any action plans needed to correct life safety and security issues.
Following all OSHA regulations within LHM.
Participating in and contributing to LHM Department Directors meetings and is a resource of their specific needs.
Actively controling and monitoring the budget for maintenance, developing operational and capital budgets as needed.
Discussing any variance in budget with the Administrator.
Meeting all assigned deadlines as assigned by the Administrator, attending meetings or programs as directed by the Administrator.
Accountable for alerting the Administrator to potential issues or problems.
Maintaining appropriate attendance adhering to supervisory requirements as directed by the Administrator.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor, necessary for the efficient operation of the department/facility.
Experience and Skills
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in civil engineering or related field preferred.
- Skilled in plumbing, electrical and carpentry.
- Two to five years' supervision of a maintenance or engineering department in a hospital or health care setting.
- Prior experience in planning, coordinating, and directing the work of employees is preferred.
- Requires standing and/or walking greater than 6 hours out of an 8-hour day with lifting a maximum of 100 pounds.
