Under the direct supervision of the Manufacturing Supervisor, must be able to install, repair and maintain production and secondary equipment. Must be able to work with little or no intervening supervision, also performs preventative maintenance tasks.
Moderate experience (2-3 years) industrial maintenance required. Must be able to read/write and understand English. High School diploma (or equivalent) is a must. Previous experience with flexible packaging/web fed machinery a plus. Must supply own hand tools.
Works from any of the following:
Specifications, diagrams, sketches, technical manuals, models, verbal instructions and original designs.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical problems, using multimeter, amp- probe, and pyrometers.
Performs electrical repairs and installations to NEC (commensurate with experience and training/certification).
Observes electro-mechanical/pneumatic devices in operation, diagnoses problems, takes corrective action and insures proper operation after repairs.
This work is performed on production and facility equipment.
Disassembles devices to gain access in order to remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools, power tools and occasionally fabricated fixtures.
Reassembles mechanical devices and installs repair parts using related skills of layout, aligning and fitting.
Inspects used parts to determine changes and dimensional requirements using rules, calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments.
Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, vertical mill and other metal working tools in order to fabricate replacement parts and fixtures.
Welding/cutting of steel and aluminum.
Works with machine operators to assist production with set-up’s as needed.
Licensed to operate all powered industrial trucks.
Observes all safety rules and regulations for self and others.
Required to be conscious of safety in performance of work not governed by rules.
Perform maintenance, repair construction and related work as directed by Engineering Manager (or Lead Mechanic in absence of), and as requested in approved maintenance work requests.
Must be available on a reasonable schedule for “call-in” and occasional overtime.
Must be able to look up spare parts/supplies and submit requisitions.
Also, must document work utilizing maintenance request process.
