Supervision Received: Work performed under the direct supervision of the Master Maintenance Instrument and Control at Rock River or Nelson Dewey Generating Stations or designated salaried employee.
Supervision Given: None.
Performs test and analyzes results for such substances as water, coal, oil, air, etc., and performs basic mechanic and basic electric duties.
Calibrates coal scales and indicating instruments. Cleans and repairs recording and indicating instruments.
Maintains gas and steam turbine instrumentation, boiler water, steam, condensate and feed water sample systems.
Performs tests and reports data on waste treatment systems.
Performs duties as required for the operation/maintenance and reporting functions of the CEM.
Maintains, operates and repairs demineralizer systems and sewage plant.
Adjusts and maintains the combustion control system.
Maintains and repairs various control devices.
Maintains supplies and orders various chemicals.
Keeps testing records as assigned.
Keeps work area clean.
Performs other duties which are similar, related or incidental to this position.
Primarily indoor work which at times could keep the employee constantly on his or her feet. Exposure to normal power generation workplace hazards where normal safety precautions are required.
At least one year of high school chemistry. Completion of the Laboratory and Instrument Control Technician Apprenticeship and pass the final position qualification examination; complete basic mechanic and basic electric cross training guides; skill in non-structural welding; ability to work on delicate equipment. Knowledge of plant operations and systems. Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse work group.
