The Maintenance Jr. Technician is an entry level position that participates in a maintenance technician training program for up to 18 months. This position is temporary in nature and is in place to develop future maintenance technicians. This includes participating in onsite, operations and maintenance training on production equipment and becoming proficient in tool operation, maintenance of equipment, and troubleshooting equipment by the end of the 18 month training period. Following the 18 month training period participants in the program have the potential to be come a Maintence Technician.This position ends after 18 months.
The Maintenance Jr. Technician position is physically demanding and requires being on the feet, standing and walking, kneeling for extended periods of time, working in wet/dry/cold/hot environments, working in tight spaces, climbing steps and ladders, working at extreme heights, making pipe connections, using hand tools, physically transporting parts and tools, and lifting equipment parts which can weigh up to 70 Lbs.
Education and Experience:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must have an associate degree in the industrial mechanical or electrical field, or 1 year of maintenance experience working in an industrial or commercial environment.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical instructions, and basic knowledge on how to use drawings, schematics and flow charts is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language.
Must have the ability to work days, nights, overtime and holidays as required.
The incumbent must have the ability to perform essential job functions.
Must have the ability to manage a list of tasks with moderate supervision.
Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment and comply with all applicable safety practices.
Must be able to maintain a clean work area; complete written reports.
Must be able to perform basic and intermediate mathematical calculations to compute rate, ration, basic statistics, draw and interpret diagrams; and enter data into and pull data from computer systems.
Must be proficient with the use of personal computer systems.
