POSITION: MAINTENANCE LOCKSMITH
SITE/ASSIGNMENT: THIS IS TO ESTABLISH AN ELIGIBILITY LIST. THIS IS AN EIGHT (8) HOURS PER DAY, 261 DAYS PER YEAR POSITION.

SALARY: RANGE 37 $18.93 - $23.02
Under the direction of the, District Maintenance Supervisor, perform skilled maintenance work in the repair, adjustment, and changing of key and combination locks and door closures.
Minimum Qualifications Required to Apply:
Any combination equivalent to: trade school course work in locksmith, two years journey-level locksmith experience or equivalent and possession of or qualified to obtain licensing as a locksmith.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid California driver's license.
Perform skilled locksmith for a great grand master keying system, including the inspection, maintenance, repair, installation and changing of key and combination locks, door closures and related hardware. E
Dismantle, repair and rebuild various types of locks and change lock combinations and parts; key cylinders and re-key plugs and locks; change safe combinations and assist in repair of safes. E
Cut copies of keys, stamp numbers on keys and enter in log book; deliver keys to District sites and personnel. E
Overhaul, adjust and install door closures, panic bars and emergency opening equipment. E
Operate a variety of tools and equipment including pin kits, key machines, drill motor, grinder and automotive vehicle. E
Maintain a multi-level key system including the development of multi-level pin charts for re-keying; pin and re-pin cylinders for entire school sites; prepare and maintain detailed records related to key codes and pin settings, work performed, key access and security, doors and hardware. E
Perform preventive maintenance on locks and hardware including cleaning, lubricating and tightening parts.
Respond to emergency calls and emergency key needs when keys are lost or locks are broken.
Stock, organize and maintain supplies and inventory including inventories of keys, locks and other access devices; determine needed supplies and purchase on open purchase order accounts as authorized.
Maintain work area in a safe, clean and organized condition.
Perform related duties as assigned.
