The Maintenance Manager reports directly to the Plant Manager and works closely with the Regional Asset Manager. This position requires a solid background and experience with preventative maintenance (PM) programs that effectively minimize downtime while improving operational efficiency. The incumbent provides effective training to improve the skill level of maintenance personnel and ensures compliance with OSHA and other Environmental Health & Safety regulations. The Maintenance Manager oversees all aspects of maintenance work projects, including planning, scheduling, demolition, construction, installation and upgrades and repairs. Collaborates with the Regional Asset Manager to research and develop a broad vendor base and to assist and manage outside contractors.
This position operates within somewhat flexible parameters and is solely responsible for fixed and mobile equipment; building and facility maintenance; and the supervision of maintenance personnel on daily repair work and the preventative maintenance program. The primary goal of this position is to achieve excellence in all facets of the maintenance function. Minimum 5-10 years experience, or equivalent, in a related industrial environment. College courses in business or management helpful. This position requires possession of a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive an automobile.
Knowledge of fabrication; tools, maintenance of heavy equipment/parts, and repair; computer and 10-key competency; attention to detail and accuracy; excellent math, organizational, and management skills; tact and ability to communicate on a professional level to employees of all levels from staff to senior management, both orally and in writing. Ability to obtain and evaluate data about equipment and how to use that information; work under heavy pressure; apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in controlled situations; and interpret an extensive variety of technical materials in books, manuals, texts, etc.

Significant time is spent outdoors overseeing and planning equipment projects. Subject to noise, dust, inclement weather and heavy machinery. Able to: lift and carry 25 pounds, and up to 50 pounds occasionally; walk, crawl, crouch or stand for long periods of time; negotiate over uneven surfaces; climb, bend or crawl to inspect equipment and related structures as necessary; ability to communicate in a professional manner to all levels of employees, both in writing and orally. Visual acuity for operating a computer, reading complex documents, blue prints, constructions diagrams, and other technical materials.
