Maintenance Manager Scope of Position The Maintenance Manager will report directly to the General Manager and has a dotted line to the Plant Managers (Dorchester & Allendale). Under general direction; this individual is responsible for managing, supervising and

coordinating the maintenance and repair of all mechanical, electrical, and instrument and control systems to ensure continuous and safe plant operations.

In addition, communicate objectives, participate in the selection of personnel, and train and evaluate assigned personnel in accordance with Company policies and government regulations.

Working Conditions While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to use written and oral communication skills, read and interpret data, information and documents;

analyze and solve complex problems, observe and interpret situations, use math and mathematical reasoning; deal with changing, intensive deadlines, and

interact with internal and external clients. Occasional overnight travel (up to 20%) by land and/or air.

· Establish and maintain the preventative maintenance schedule, activities and personnel in accordance with approved schedule.
· Ensure the repair of all electrical, mechanical, and instrument and control equipment. Provide for emergency/temporary repairs as needed: plan and schedule permanent repairs.
· Organize and assign work within the department to optimize the use of personnel and their skills.
· Receive quotes/proposals from external firms. Coordinate and inspect the work of outside contractors. As necessary.
· Ensure adequate inventory of parts, tools, and equipment: order parts as needed.
· Receive, inspect and store all incoming equipment, tools, parts and supplies. Verify with purchase orders and arrange for return of incorrect of defective items.
· Provide technical assistance and support to other departments and assist in troubleshooting and resolving problems.
· Ensure the cleaning and maintenance of plant facilities and grounds.
· Ensure the maintenance of preventative and repair work records and logs.
· Provide input to the plant's operating budget relative to maintenance activities.
· Recommend improvements and upgrading of equipment as appropriate.
· Develop and maintain effective relationships with employees, contractors and vendors.
· Develop and maintain professional competence in electrical and mechanical systems maintenance and applicable codes.
· Provide input and prepare reports as required.
· Adhere to all applicable health & safety, environmental and administrative policies, procedures and regulations.
· Maintain a safe work environment though job planning, housekeeping and identification and correction of hazards.
· Record all stock received including date received, vendor, invoice number, etc.
· Maintain the tool room, issue and recover tools, parts, and supplies as necessary.
· Attend morning, monthly and quarterly meetings with staff.
· Attend training, implement and pursue personal development goals.
· Other duties as assigned.
Valid Driver’s License
· A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a bachelor’s degree in business / or extensive maintenance experience is required.
· A minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience in solid fuel power plant.
· A minimum of 10 years of progressive supervisory experience.
· Extensive experience in the use of personal computers and numerous software applications such as Excel, Word, MS Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, etc.
· Ability to productively work independently and as an overall integral team member.
· Must have strong communication skills and the ability to effectively organize and facilitate process teams.
· Supervises/manages/directs the selection, training, development, appraisal and work assignments of personnel.
· Supervise and coordinate activities to meet department objectives.
· Participate in the selection process, assign responsibilities, schedule personnel and provide support as required.
· Train personnel in accordance with company policies and government regulations.
· Identify problems and implement corrective actions as required.
· Prepare appropriate reports, recommendations and maintain documentation as required
· Complete performance appraisals and development plans with employees and provide necessary followup.
· Ability to understand complex contractual issues as they relate to plant maintenance.
· Ability to handle quick changing situations under stress and to work extended hours on short notice if and when required.
· Travel to other plant locations and to corporate will be required.
