A Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for providing general maintenance support for hospital campuses, satellite facilities, and The Park in support of the Mission, Vision, and Values of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Ensure that these facilities, including equipment and grounds (where applicable) are maintained in a safe and aesthetically pleasing condition in order to provide an environment appropriate for the well being of our patients, visitors and staff.


Performs corrective and planned maintenance on all facility properties, such as non-patient care and building systems equipment.

Keeps accurate, legible records of all work performed in accordance with department policies and procedures.

Receives and obtains materials according to departmental procedures and observes proper on-site handling of equipment and materials in compliance with System policies and procedures, infection control, safety and OSHA regulations.

Communicates and works directly with supervisory and management personnel, clinical personnel, patients and other staff on a daily bases to insure that an optimum patient care and business environment is provided. Maintains good public relations by responding professionally and promptly to the needs of all customers.

Meets all inservice requirements per System and department policy, and demonstrates an understanding and support of family-centered care philosophy, while supporting and participating in the continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of care and services provided.


High school graduate or equivalent required.

Two years of general maintenance experience related to building systems and equipment, as found in hospitals, is required.

Must have a good working knowledge of electricity, plumbing, HVAC, and commercial carpentry.

Must be able to read blueprints.

Must possess good communication and interpersonal skills

Must be able to work without direct supervision.
