Sanimax is looking for a skilled and dynamic mechanic to join maintenance team! The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining all plant equipment and apparatus in proper working order by servicing, repairing, replacing and performing preventative and predictive maintenance, in a safe, cost effective and professional manner to insure maximum production, high quality product and a safe working environment.


Troubleshoot and repair all mechanical equipment failures timely and effectively in order to meet or exceed production, safety and efficiency standards set by the company to insure a high quality product and minimal down time.

Perform predictive and preventative maintenance on all mechanical equipment in order to anticipate and avert equipment failures insuring that plant processing operations are maintained.

Assist with the implementation of engineering changes, installation and start up of new equipment, and improvements to plant and existing equipment to insure efficient operations.

Communicate to the Lead Maintenance Mechanic all accidents, downtime and exceptions, or any cost saving ideas and recommendations involved in the maintenance operation, assisting in the investigation and necessary documentation of any such incidents or opportunities.

Maintain a clean and Salmonella-free work environment to meet company standards of ‘tour’ ready facility with 0% Salmonella recontamination rate by assuring that maintenance area and equipment is kept clean and by following all Salmonella Program policies and procedures.


Must be able to understand and interact with fully automated control systems and comprehend the relationship to all operating components. Must be able to read and understand blueprints, schematics and equipment manuals.

Must be able to operate a bobcat and forklift, frequently climb stairs and ladders, frequently lift 30 pounds, occasionally lift 50-100 pounds and frequently contend with awkward posture while working on equipment, including working on equipment above one’s shoulders.

Must have three years experience working on heavy industrial processing equipment.

Must be able to weld with wire and stick systems.

Must be able to operate oxygen/acetylene and plasma cutting equipment.

Must be able to work in confined spaces that can become uncomfortable.

Rendering experience, HVAC knowledge, truck and trailer maintenance and repair, pump rebuilding experience preferred.


Must be a self-motivated individual with high work standards, leadership characteristics and good communication and mechanical skills.

Must be able to work independently and know when to seek assistance.


Must be able to work in a noisy environment where odors from raw product are constantly present.

Must be able to withstand all types of climatic conditions as 10% of time involves outside work and 20% of time involves temperature extremes.

May be required to work extended hours and weekends and periodically be on call.


High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
