Chevron Global Power Company is accepting online applications for the position of Maintenance Planning & Execution (MP&E) Planning Engineer located in Houston, TX through February 21, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
This position will work within the Chevron Global Power Maintenance Planning and Execution (MP&E) team at the Power Support Center (PSC). The PSC mission is to assist Chevron power generation facilities in sustaining world class performance in direct support of facility producing objectives. This position will be part of the Power Services team that executes core functions integral to power generation equipment performance and equipment integrity. These core functions include major turbine outage inspection planning and execution, turbine-generator/HRSG and balance of plant performance monitoring and troubleshooting, operations support and recommendations, engineering analysis, margin analysis, power system business plan development, and modification & upgrades project management. The MP&E Planning Engineer will primarily work from a base office in Houston.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Contributes to planning and completion of GPG initiatives, and proposes solutions to meet customer business objectives
Participate in the planning and execution of outages at remote sites which may require travel, although infrequent, for up to two weeks at a time away from the home office
Flexible with their working hours so as to accommodate communications with remote sites in very different time zones on occasion
Shares specific knowledge and experience throughout Chevron
Leads conference calls and sometimes works with translators
Deals with both fast paced outages and troubleshoots evolutions as well as long term planning and improvement projects
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Equivalent Work Experience
Minimum 5 years experience working closely with the maintenance planning, major inspection planning, operations and performance monitoring and analysis of gas turbine power plants; including Power system strategies, power volumetrics and integration of significant power equipment operations and maintenance activities with other facility operations schedules
Engineering and/or O&M experience on gas and steam turbine based power generation equipment
General understanding of all major equipment and operational/maintenance requirements of Power Generation and distribution systems
Ability to deal with both fast paced outages and troubleshooting evolutions as well as long term planning and improvement projects
Travel approximately 30% domestically and internationally to assist power sites with the planning and execution of these programs
Advanced turbine engineering experience in both planning and maintenance
OEM Engineering Service experience is highly desirable
Prior operations, maintenance, engineering, or technician experience with Cogen, combined cycle, or simple cycle large frame gas turbines is preferred
Experience with GE Frame 6, 7 and/or 9 turbines
Experience with Microsoft Access or other database programs, advanced Excel functions, Premavera and/or Microsoft Projects and PowerPoint
Experience with repair of turbine parts and parts tracking
Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters. *LI-CB1
