Maintenance Specialist IV
The Maintenance Specialist IV performs general wall and drywall repairs. Makes all necessary drywall repairs and painting, including new and existing alterations; tape, bed, texture and coat surfaces with appropriate sealer, primer and/or paint, keeping buildings and homes painted and drywall repaired on a scheduled basis. Specialist also performs general building maintenance and construction, installation and repairs of exterior/interior walls, ceilings, floor and ceiling tile, doors and roof repairs. Must ensure quality and maintain maintenance schedules. Specialist may assemble, repair or install new equipment, furniture, fixtures and wainscoate. Operates all hand/power general equipment and tools. Assist with concrete forms, shoot grades and pours as needed. This person must be able to operate a State vehicle for the expedition of workflow for the department. Individual must have a valid Texas Drivers License in order to expedite the workflow for the department.. The position is appointed by the Construction Supervisor.

Specialist must be able to use HVLP spray gun and all airless spray rigs.Specialist must be able to keep buildings and homes painted and drywall repaired on a scheduled basis. Technician also performs general building maintenance and construction, installation and repairs of exterior/interior walls, ceilings, floor and ceiling tile, doors, wainscoating and roof repairs. Must ensure quality and maintain maintenance schedules. Technician may assemble, repair or install new equipment, furniture and fixtures. May assist in other trades as needed
Read and interpret plans, sketches, and blueprints; prepare cost estimates and time estimates for all work; recommend and order supplies, equipment and materials required for performance of duties; and maintain an inventory of frequently used supplies and standardized items. Work with other skilled trade staff in the department, participate in coordination and/or installation of larger projects requiring multiple trades. Keep abreast of all safety and building codes, asbestos laws and guidelines, and material safety data sheets (MSDS) with regard to products and supplies used in the performance of duties. Remain proficient in the use and maintenance of fixed and hand held power tools used in the carpentry trade, keeping all hand and power tools and equipment in good
Provide services at night or on weekends and holidays at the request and direction of the Construction Supervisor; respond to emergency service calls on a 24-hour basis; perform other related duties as required..
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Knowledge of and skill in drywall installtion and repair. Knowledge and skill in painting to include surface preparation, primer application, texturing, painting, and use of HVLP pot gun and all airless spray rigs. Basic knowledge of building maintenance.
Registration or Licensure Requirements:
Valid Texas Drivers License
Initial Selection Criteria:
High School diploma or GED.
Four (4) years of paint experience
Four (4) years of Tape, bed and texture
Four(4) years experience in dry wall
