Maintenance Specialist IVThis position is the Plumbing Department Lead Person and acts in the absence of the Plumbing Supervisor. Position performs highly advanced plumbing maintenance and repairs. Individual is responsible for all facets of plumbing trade and appliance repairs including, installation and repair of fixtures, pumps, piping, valves, wiring of pump motors, electrical valves, flow switches, water lines and sewer lines, maintains and repairs sprinkler systems. Technician also installs, repairs and unstops commodes. Position is also responsible for repair of the domestic water systems, sewer systems as well as the water distribution system. Technician will assist in installation and/or repair of all types of plumbing, must be able to recognize mechanical faults, verify and make repairs. This person is also responsible for the repair and Maintenance of the natural gas distribution piping on campus. This person must be able to follow Preventive Maintenance Schedules, completes work orders within scheduled time frames and participates in the on-call rotation for the department. This person must be able to operate a State vehicle for the expedition of workflow for the department. Individual must have a valid Texas Drivers License in order to expedite the workflow for the department. This position requires minimal supervision with extensive latitude for the use of independent judgement and works under direct supervision of the Plumbing Supervisor. Also must perform other duties as assigned to help out with other departments.

Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Knowledge and skills in allaspects of plumbing and appliance repairs
Install, repair, and/or maintains all types of plumbing
Install fixtures, pumps, piping, water valves, water lines, and sewer lines
Unstop and repairs commodes
Unstop and repairs sinks and drains
Repairs and installs water heaters.
Repairs and maintains gas lines.
Maintains work site to ensure safety.
May work in excessive heat/cold/humidity/dampness/noise.
May lift/carry light to heavy.
Other physical requirements twist, grasping, pull, repeated bending, stooping, kneel, push, stand, walking, crawl, sitting, straight pulling, reaching above head, and climbing ladders/stairs.
May work below ground, uneven walkways, and electrical energy. Must have 4 years experience in plumbing. Must have 1 years experience in appliances repairs. Must have 2 years experience as a Lead man.

Registration or Licensure Requirements:
Must have a high school diploma, or G.E.D. Must have a valid Texas Drivers License to operate a State vehicle for the expedition of workflow for the department.

Initial Selection Criteria:
4 YEARS OF PLUMBING EXPERIENCE
2YEARS OF LEAD EXPIERANCE
PERFER 1 YEAR OF APPLIANCE REPAIR

Additional Information:
All applicants must pass: pre-employment drug screen, fingerprint and criminal background check, and Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Employee Misconduct Registry and Nurse/Aide Registry checks. Males between the ages of 18 – 25 must be registered with the Selective Service.
