Who are we looking for?
Maintain all Instrument and Electrical (I/E) systems in the building lab, facilities, and office areas. Perform other facilities maintenance activities as required. Maintain/establish safe working conditions.

  • Responsible for planning, scheduling, and performing I/E repairs and PMs as needed.
  • Responsible for supervising outside contractors performing I/E work on site.
  • Responsible for documenting and updating I/E drawings and records as needed.
  • Responsible for performing other facilities maintenance activities as required.
    Detailed Work Requirements Instrumentation:
  • Install, calibrate, and maintain electrical and pneumatic process instrumentation and controls (temperature, pressure, flow, pH, safety sensors and alarms, control valves, solenoids, relays, and other control devices).
  • Maintain primary ISO calibration equipment and calibration records/certificates.
  • Perform diagnostic testing and troubleshooting on DCS I/O modules, terminations, jumper/DIP switch settings and cabling. Work with engineering/DCS support personnel as needed.
  • Maintain a stock of spare instrument wiring and fuses.
  • Maintain I/E drawings, labels, and communication notes.
  • Perform electrical maintenance and repairs for lab equipment, facilities equipment, and office areas.
  • Make new electrical installations as needed. Recommend when an outside contractor is required for new installations. Participate in the contractor selection process.
  • Liaison with service personnel to resolve electrical problems that occur on contracted Facilities equipment.
  • Provide support as needed to maintain HVAC systems for lab hoods.
  • Observe electrical code specifications and site safety requirements in all activities.
  • Maintain a stock of basic spare electrical equipment components.
  • Maintain necessary documentation for the above activities.

  • Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years prior experience in I/E maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Must be familiar with NEC code requirements for Class 1, Division 2 Hazardous Areas.
  • Good familiarity with reading P&ID, Electrical and Instrument Loop drawings.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and to problem solve independently.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
