Essential Functions:

Performs various tasks involving wastewater utility maintenance and repair within the Wastewater Collections Section. The Maintenance Specialist position is responsible for the installation and repair of gravity lines; sewer force mains, broken pipes, valves, and lift stations. Installs, repairs and replaces valves, and rehabs lift stations. Cleans and views sewer lines, rebuilds and maintains pumps and operates large trucks and equipment. Also assists skilled-trade employees or other workers as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED supplemented by vocational/technical training in general maintenance, mechanics, electrical maintenance, and plumbing. One year of working experience to include electrical, asphalt/concrete work, piping/valves and the operation of heavy equipment. Must possess the ability to read, write and speak the English language professionally and to read and understand blueprints. The individual must have the physical stamina to perform strenuous physical duties. Also, the ability to work in inclement weather conditions, confined space entry and exposure to hazardous gases and high voltage. Must have the physical capabilities of working while wearing a respirator or self contained breathing apparatus verified by a physical examination. Valid Florida drivers license with the ability to obtain a CDL "B" drivers license with a tanker endorsement within six months of employment. The individual MUST obtain a Wastewater Collections "C' Certification within two years of employment. Fingerprinting is required.
