Leads, and is accountable for maintenance and reliability. Supervises assigned employees and provides coaching and feedback, training and development for those individuals. Responsible for tactical planning of assigned areas to ensure the production team has the personnel and resources available to complete the assigned tasks as defined by location or corporate goals. Leads and fosters the safety culture at the locations, and drives maintenance and reliability productivity improvement efforts. Networks with location management and production coordinators on day-to-day location operations, area planning, maintenance, and staffing requirements. The Maintenance Supervisor needs to be knowledgeable of the fundamentals of the overall processes supervised. Duties/Responsibilities Leadership/Supervision: Coach, support and develop employees on your team in a manner that fosters effective collaboration and teamwork, demonstrating and modeling core values. Provide coaching and feedback throughout the year.
Communicate effectively, hold regular team meetings and providing timely business updates.
Consult with Human Resources for guidance and to ensure compliance and that effective labor plans are developed. Oversee and participate as needed personnel decisions and may carry out actions under guidance of Production Location Manager and Plant Operations Manager.
GENERAL PLANT/FIELD OPERATIONS:
Accountable for preventative maintenance, routine maintenance and all capital projects managed at the location.
Responsible for the day to day activities of the maintenance shop and equipment and inventories related to maintenance activities. Facilitate the development of maintenance schedules and allocation of team members to complete schedules. Possess knowledge of machines, equipment, and worker capabilities to meet identified timelines.
Serve as site contact for all capital projects and monitor and manage progress to ensure projects are completed in time and budget parameters.
Participate as a key member of the Location Management Team and Extended Location Leadership Team.
Ensure completion and updating of appropriate records, documents, and/or reports (e.g. ISO9000, inventory, quality records, training manuals etc.). Implement and monitor maintenance KPI’s and ensure analysis is conducted as needed for plant/production activities.
Coordinate business planning development and review for assigned areas, including establishing a five capital plan, including defined project scope and projected cost. Also responsible for establishing a three year maintenance plan and estimated costs.
Lead the assigned team in developing resources plans for shift and/or seasonal labor needs.
Lead the planning of off-season maintenance to ensure critical and non-critical equipment is serviced or replaced.
Champion Business Improvement, including being a member of Site Steering Committee. Education and Experience Bachelors degree Engineering or related subject matter preferred. Two-year technical degree required.
Five to Seven (5-7) years on-the-job or related maintenance experience that includes supervisory or leadership experience required. Experience may be substituted for formal secondary education.
For some Maintenance Leader positions being a Licensed Electrician able to maintain 12V to 480V systems is desired.
Trained and experience in Project Management is desired.
Some positions may require a Commercial Drivers License (CDL). May be required to obtain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) in the future. Supervisory experience desired. Competencies Ability to manage work processes, balance workload, train & motivate employees is key for this role. Position will work across the location (both Plant and Field).
Maintenance Supervisor positions are focused on organizing and prioritizing plant maintenance projects and programs. This includes repair & maintenance budgeting and execution, ensuring plant electrical and mechanical systems are properly installed, inspected, and maintained; and troubleshooting and repair of PLC and other systems.

Process Improvement Skills: DPS/TRACC, LEAN/SMED, Six Sigma and other applicable tools, ISO. Computer Skills: R/3 systems & reports to include Maintenance Module, MS Office, Working knowledge of PLC, Safety Management.
Ability and willingness to work in a variety of conditions (field, plant, warehouse - hot, cold, dust, pollen, etc.) Ability to work weekends and/or holidays during seasonal peaks. Repetitive motion and/or occasional lifting of 20 to 60 lbs. Must be able to distinguish varieties of seed based on color. Other duties as needed. Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle required. Positions requiring a CDL are subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements.
