The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising assigned maintenance staff and overseeing all daily maintenance activities of water and/or wastewater treatment facilities. Duties include planning, scheduling, and delivery of preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance functions at assigned water and/or wastewater facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Oversees and co-ordinates the efficient and effective mechanical operation of the Project by:
a. Supervising and directing assigned maintenance staff
b. Ensuring that prescribed maintenance schedules and policies and procedures are followed.
c. Ensuring all preventive and predictive corrective maintenance tasks are completed as scheduled.
d. Ensuring all corrective or emergency repairs are scheduled and completed on a timely basis.
e. Assessing and prioritizing maintenance functions.
f. Working with Project or Plant Manager to improve mechanical systems and benchmark optimal maintenance efficiencies.
g. Implementing improvements to operating systems and procedures including computerized maintenance management and work order programs.
h. Recommending changes in employment, salary and performance ratings for assigned employees.
i. Allocating work and assisting in training personnel.
j. Other duties as assigned.
Responsible for equipment or contract services procurement by providing quotes and proposals for new or replacement equipment or maintenance functions
Ensures that the work order system is maintained and that all maintenance records are organized and up to date
Assists with project audits and recommends efficiency improvements
Evaluates project maintenance organizational structure and recommends changes in staffing, scheduling, tools and equipment
Evaluates staff performance of maintenance objectives, prepares performance appraisals
Develops standard operating procedures for maintenance tasks
Oversees development and implementation of maintenance and work order programs
Prepares daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly reports for review by the Project or Plant Manager and/or the client or client’s representative
Performs administrative management duties, including compliance with state and federal regulations, conducting tours, and managing the Project in the absence of other plant management.
Track and submit monthly reports detailing major and routine maintenance
Attends and participates in various construction meetings and provides maintenance advice to the Project, Plant Manager, or other management staff, client, consultants, contractors and vendors
Understands and adheres to all company health and safety procedures as they relate to essential job functions
Responds to emergency situations as needed including evenings, weekends or holidays
Performs other such duties and functions as are necessary or incidental to the proper performance of this position
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems
• Strong general computer skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Working knowledge of pumps, motors, equipment and electrical systems typically found in water or wastewater systems
• Knowledge of instrumentation and control systems
• Knowledge of water and wastewater operations a plus
• Strong problem solving skills and ability to trouble shoot mechanical and electrical systems
• Supervisory experience in directing maintenance staff
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School degree or equivalent.
Completion of an Associates Degree program in maintenance technology, 7-10 years of maintenance experience in an industrial or utility setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience desired includes time in a hands-on role servicing pumps, motors controls etc.; familiarity with workorder and maintenance management systems, demonstrated ability to direct and prioritize maintenance activities and supervisory experience leading a maintenance team in an industrial or utility setting.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid driver’s license. A CDL is a plus
Requires frequent walking, climbing, stooping, and moving items up to 50lbs. Frequent exposure to various weather or environmental conditions.
