Responsibilities will include supervising union personnel on rotating shifts while ensuring that the maintenance of the Rosebud Mine equipment complies with authorized practices & procedures, & maintenance requirements are accomplished in a safe & efficient manner. The Shop Supervisor will administer an effective safety program conducting safety meetings as required. Monitor & inspect work areas to assure area is safe & in compliance with all MSHA & company safety rules & regulations, correcting all unsafe conditions. Responsible to coordinate maintenance activities with production operations ensuring that adequate scheduling needs for parts, materials & manpower to ensure timely repair has been met. The Supervisor will supervise all personnel assigned to them on shift, including assignment of duties, evaluation of performance, training & recommendation for training. Administer activities to ensure compliance with all company policies & procedures & union bargaining unit agreement. Additionally, the Supervisor will coordinate & direct work activities to effectively implement maintenance plans, ensuring safe work behaviors & practices. Maintain maintenance records & ensure timely completion of scheduled maintenance & repair of mine equipment in order to maximize equipment availability. Analyze operational/maintenance requirements & adjust priorities as required. Communicate status of work activities as need with department manager or other departments. Prepare or review reports as required to evaluate & document activities.

Required Skills

Five years experience in mining or a related industry or a college degree in Civil, Mechanical or Mining Engineering. Previous experience in supervising & directing the work of others. Demonstrated knowledge of operation & maintenance functions. Demonstrated working knowledge of computer applications, specifically PeopleSoft or other maintenance management software & Microsoft standard office programs. Demonstrated knowledge of environmental & safety regulations. Effective oral & written communication skills & the ability to interact with other supervisors, professionals, representatives & departmental staff from within & outside the company. Successful candidate will be required to obtain a State of Montana Mine Foreman Certificate.
