TurboFab, a facility of Solar Turbines, specializes in the fabrication of generator and turbine platforms, as well as pipe spooling, process skid and turbine base assembly, painting, testing, electrical assembly, and instrumentation.

TurboFab is a fully-integrated, wholly-owned fabrication and machining facility located just east of Houston along the Carpenter's Bayou Barge Canal in Channelview, Texas. TurboFab fabricates many products for both Solar Turbines and Caterpillar, in taking great advantage of its 1200 feet of waterfront access and 50-acre state-of-the-art facility. Some of the products presently produced by TurboFab include: Turbine package bases for all Solar product lines, Large single lift module systems - weighing up to 1000 tons each, Skid-mounted fuel treatment systems, Process equipment skids, Pipe valve skids and Caterpillar power generation package containers.

We currently have a career opportunity for a Maintenance Mechanic at our TurboFab facility in Channelview, Texas.

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Perform the duties required and/or assigned to the Maintenance Department.

NATURE AND SCOPE:
This position is responsible for the repair, preventive maintenance and/or the troubleshooting of the air conditioning system, electrical system, plumbing, mechanical, machinery, pneumatic and electric hand tools, equipment including the rigging and painting equipment, industrial trucks, heavy transportation equipment, cranes and general building maintenance. Functions will also include but not limited to carpentry and repair of company vehicles. Maintain all maintenance related paperwork. Interfaces and monitors services by outside service vendors. Utilizes the preventive maintenance system.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Comply with all of TurboFab’s Environmental, Health and Safety Programs, Regulations and Guidelines.

Must keep all areas clean and orderly; and comply with TurboFab’s housekeeping procedures.

Investigate, determine, and perform all maintenance and repairs required on all TurboFab equipment and facility items. Construct, devise, alter, and modify new facilities and devices as assigned.

Determines the methods and sequence of operations required to locate, install, test repair and modify industrial electrical systems and equipment by interpreting blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams and following technical verbal and/or written instructions.

Diagnose and correct malfunctions of electrical systems and equipment such as main power control panels, circuit breakers and relay panels, transformer banks, main power voltage regulators, frequency convertors, motors, gear boxes and generators to assure conformance to specifications and requirements.

Determine routing of wires and conduits and the location and method of installing such electrical units as switches, outlets, junction boxes, rectifiers, transformers and generators. Compute wire gauge, power and load limit requirements using charts and handbooks, considering such factors as amperage, load, and distance to power supply.

Perform the oiling, coolant replenishing, greasing and cleaning of production equipment and machines according to manufacturer's specifications, charts, schedules, oral and/or written instructions. Maintain maintenance records and charts.

Uses necessary tools and equipment to accomplish assigned tasks.

Utilizes the Preventive Maintenance system accordingly.

Train other less experienced maintenance mechanics.

KNOWLEDGE:
  • This position is for the well-experienced fully competent and qualified Maintenance Mechanic that has over 5 years of experience and requires minimal supervision to perform the job.
  • Maintenance Electrical Certification is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) preferred.
  • Must exhibit the skills and willingness to perform assigned tasks in a fully competent manner.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
