Maintenance Technician
Covenant Shores, (Mercer Island, Washington), part of a nation wide family of CCRC's: Covenant Retirement Communities, 5th largest LeadingAge Ziegler Top 100, is seeking a Maintenance Technician. This position is accountable for providing semi-skilled, non-routine maintenance service throughout the Covenant Shores campus in order to meet the needs of the residents and staff and to help assure that the buildings, equipment and other facilities are in good repair.

The successful candidate will have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Specialized advanced training in one of the following: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, IT maintenance, and telecommunication, required.
  • Three years experience in a variety of maintenance related fields, required.
  • Experience in a retirement community, preferred.

Current Washington Driver’s License and good driving record, required.
Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing, required.

This position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and will take direction from Facilities Management Director. This position functions as a member of the maintenance team. It is labor in nature. In performance of duties, the Maintenance Technician is entrusted to complete preventative maintenance procedures on specialized equipment such as, but not limited to, HVAC, electrical, painting & wallpapering and telecommunications. Repair specialized equipment such as, but not limited to, HVAC, electrical, painting & wallpapering and telecommunications. Responsible for training other maintenance personnel in specialized skilled areas. Participates in departmental orientation and training of new employees. Attends and participates in departmental and safety related in service. Refurbishing of buildings requiring skills in the areas of drywall work, and counter work, painting, window glazing, basic electrical and plumbing. Inspect all vacated residential apartments, evaluate and determine renovation needs in consultation with the Facilities Management Director (ESD), obtain necessary supplies and insure repairs are completed in a timely manner for new resident occupancy as directed. Identify electrical, and plumbing, come up with a solution, purchase appropriate supplies, and make the repairs and/or modifications as needed. Respond to emergency situations and take proper corrective action. Call service and warranty personnel when corrective action needed is beyond department's capabilities. Assist Facilities Management Director and Maintenance Supervisor with overall coordination of Maintenance Department. Fill in if needed in the areas of security.

Must be available for weekend on-call duties as per schedule.
