Trouble-shoot, calibrate, maintain, and install plant instrumentation and electrical systems and components, with an emphasis on prevention and prediction practices. Document findings, correct drawings to reflect as-built conditions, and maintain equipment history files and logs.
Able to read and interpret instrument and electrical installation drawings, process plant P&ID’s, wiring schematics, loop drawings, electrical one-line drawings, and component assembly drawings.
-Able to read and follow technical manuals, specification sheets, maintenance instructions, parts bill of materials, and understand the significance of materials of construction for specific applications.
-Function check, diagnose, and calibration instrument sensors, transmitters, and control elements for process parameters such as temperature, flow, level, and pressure.
- Interact with vendors in getting parts identified properly for ordering and delivery.
- Be able to trouble shoot and repair all plant equipment proficiently and perform all equipment repair work to manufacturer’s specifications.
-Be skilled in alignment techniques for rotating and coupled equipment and understand the basic principles of vibration.
- Develop good computer skills in the SAP maintenance module’s PM and Work Order systems.
-Diagnose and maintain electrical and electronics systems and components such as relays, switches, power supplies, motor control circuits, AC/DC motors, variable speed drives, electric tracing, transformers, and wiring.
-Basic trouble-shooting and component replacement on control system hardware such as DCS and PLC systems.
-Assist in determining repairs needed by recommending replacement parts, options, and solutions. Perform other duties as assigned.
-Comply with all environmental, safety, and health policies and safe work practices.
- Proficient use of interpersonal skills with peers and process personnel to achieve better communications and repairs.
-Process analyzer skills and experience is a plus.
-DCS and PLC programming experience is a plus.
-Able to work through problems in stressful conditions and remain calm.
-Respond to off-hours plant emergencies as a shared responsibility with other technician.
-High school diploma/GED with minimum 5 years experience
-2-year technical college diploma or military training in instrumentation, electrical, or electronics, and minimum of 3-years experience would be an acceptable substitute for the above requirement.
-Able to work safely on and around electrical components
