Troubleshoots and repairs electrical and control systems. Assist in the modification, installation, and start up of new / existing instrumentation, process control systems and equipment. Technician will be responsible for performing calibration of process control instrumentation.
Primary responsibilities for role (level-specific responsibilities should be included in the chart below):
- Performs calibration of process control instrumentation including but not limited to Temperature, Pressure, Level, Flow, Weight/Weighing Systems, and Analytical devices, to include pH, Conductivity, UV, TOC, using NIST standards.
- Troubleshoots and repairs electrical and control systems including control logic, ladder logic, and instrumentation on various types of process control components to include electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, microprocessors, Programmable Logic Controllers, Distributed Control and Building Automation System.
- Detailed planning and documentation of all calibration troubleshooting and repair activities. Assist supervisor and peer technicians as required in overseeing contractor performance of maintenance activities.
- Other duties, as assigned, to support facilities and maintenance systems.
Requires an Associate of Applied Science degree in Instrumentation or relevant technical field and/or applicable industry accepted training/education (i.e. military, OEM, etc.) supported by licenses plus a minimum of 3 years applicable experience (NCN15) or 8 years of applicable experience (NCN16) OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
The ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, control loop schematics, and P&ID drawings is required. Must be capable of creating procedures for calibration in accordance with site and cGMP standards. This position requires that the candidate is proficient in the use of personal computers and is experienced with Windows applications. The position requires the ability to work independently with appropriate supervision, and the ability to plan / prioritize workload based on process critical equipment requirements. Candidate must maintain close communications with peers, supervision, and Technical Operations.
Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with rotating shifts. Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms. Exposure to chemicals, electrical manufacturing equipment, hand tools and moving machinery. Operates forklifts, tractors and power equipment. Exposure to high levels of noise and to dust/gas/fumes/steam. Exposure to extreme cold below 32* and on occasion, exposure to extreme heat above 100*. Exposure to vibration or oscillating movements of the extremities or the whole body. Occasional entry into confined spaces, requiring kneeling, crawling, climbing and squatting. Works at heights on scaffolding and/or on ladders. Walks on uneven ground. Personal protective equipment required such as; protective eyewear, chemical suits, safety shoes and/or rubber footwear, gloves, hearing protection and a respirator. Heavy lifting and carrying of 45lbs. for up to 6-8 hours per day, with a maximum lift of 75lbs. Work is performed standing, walking, bending and twisting waist for 4-6 hours per day. Repetitive foot movements. Occasionally reaches above and below shoulder height. Occasionally bends and twists neck. Repetitive hand movements with simple grasping of one hand with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Ability to make precise coordinated movements, of the fingers to grasp and manipulate objects. Hearing acuity essential. Color perception/discrimination, depth perception and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye. Able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken and written words and sentences. Performs a wide range of complex tasks. Adheres to a work schedule to meet production standards.
