under general direction, performs work of average to considerable difficulty in the
general maintenance work orders throughout the Academy and it’s property
in the primary fields of
electrical; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning
HVAC); carpentry; plumbing; etc. as well as other tasks as assigned.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrates Company Core Values and operating principles
Identifies and corrects building and equipment problems by performing carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, and HVAC work to maintain buildings and equipment in safe condition, and prevent failures that would cause reduction in service to provide safe conditions for employees/students.
Replaces or updates inoperable or old building materials and appliances
e.g. motors, belts, pumps, window glass, sinks, doors, smoke alarms, cabinets, shelves, tile, light fixtures, filter systems, etc.)
Documents work and travel claims.
Account for materials purchased and time spent completing work assigned by using the School Dude™ computer work order system
as directed) of materials lists and equipment needed for repairs and the completion of job tasks.
Be required to respond to 24-hour emergency calls for assigned work area to perform emergency building or equipment repairs during off-duty hours
Follow orders and complete work assignments with a minimum of supervision.
Performs general maintenance work
e.g. trims trees, sweeps floors, general cleaning, etc.) to maintain a clean, safe work area for employees. in accordance with Center, CSD and DOL standard.
Confers with Facility Manager to discuss work processes and problems, the best techniques for various maintenance and repair needs, and receive counseling and instructions
May transport students, equipment or commodities with GSA vehicles to vocational sites, medical centers, Recreational activities, courts, etc.
Safely operate government vehicles and/or construction equipment in all weather conditions.
Adheres to all PRH, PAG, CDSS and CSDC policies and procedures, and the Center’s Operating Procedures.
Attends required staff training sessions.
Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must have a High School Diploma or any combination of related education and apprentice, trades helper or equivalent experience in building construction, maintenance and repair to totaling
2 years. Allowable education includes technical training in a field related to building maintenance through a recognized trade union, technical school or equivalent, college courses in a field related to building maintenance through an accredited college or university. Model company Core Values.
Valid NYS Driver’s license.
Be flexible in responding to changes in schedules and job priorities.
