Under supervision, the Maintenance Worker-LRT performs unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair of light rail stations, terminal buildings, restrooms, park and ride lots, landscaping, fences, guardrails, handicapped lifts, and other trackside areas.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Performs maintenance of trackside structures, including cleaning walls, windows, floors, and restrooms;
  • Performs semi-skilled repairs of structures, fencing, guardrails, and handicapped lifts;
  • Inspects and reports problems with escalators and elevators;
  • Keeps park and ride lots and other trackside areas clean and free of litter;
  • Plants, fertilizes, pulls weeds, water, prunes, trims, mows, and maintains trackside landscaping;
  • Sprays herbicides;
  • Performs manual labor;
  • Operates, services, and maintains gardening, janitorial and related tools and equipment;
  • Performs work on ladders and scaffolds;
  • Drives light trucks and automobiles;
  • Operates computer for related data input and retrieval;
  • Performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a valid California driver’s license.

  • Basic plumbing, carpentry, and truck operation;
  • Basic grounds keeping such as planting, mowing, watering, spraying, fertilizing;
