The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for managing relationships with major donor prospects who have the ability to make gifts at or above $25,000 that support the needs of Marywood University. The Major Gifts Officer will develop and execute strategies for securing financial support from a portfolio of major donor prospects that includes but is not limited to alumni, parents, and friends. With respect to the designated prospect portfolio, design and execute strategies relative to all aspects of the “gift cycle,” including but not limited to: Identification and initiation of contacts with potential and existing donors. Development of appropriate cultivation strategies for potential and existing donors. Movement of potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure. Completion of appropriate stewardship activities.

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred.
- Work Experience Requirements:
Five to seven years successful experience (with demonstrated financial results) in major or planned gift fundraising, preferably in higher education. Proven experience in major individual gift fundraising, preferably in higher education, and in cultivating and soliciting prospects capable of five and six-figure gifts. Possess solid relationship-building skills. Knowledge of tax laws that impact charitable giving, personal assets, and estates. Excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, research, project management and written and verbal communication skills with a strong customer service approach.

Must have a strong commitment to the mission and goal of Marywood and the desire to assist the University in achieving these goals. Must be able to travel around the region and to other areas of the country, as assigned.
