Macy’s, Inc. is seeking qualified candidates for the Manager of Benefits. The Manager of Benefits will be responsible for directing and planning the day-to-day operations of group benefit programs (group health, RX, EAP, Live Healthy). Provide excellent customer service and quality benefit plans information. Investigate new benefit programs, improve existing programs, supervise and monitor benefits/wellness administration. Provide analytical and technical support in the delivery of the benefit/wellness programs.
Assist with developing and expanding the Macy’s wellness and fitness programs.
Bring current wellness and fitness programs to Macy’s.
Provide content/edits for wellness and fitness programs to the Communication Manager.
Keep abreast of cultural, social, economic, and leadership trends and developments.
Communicate, implement, and enforce clear, reasonable, and consistent guidelines for all aspects of wellness and fitness program participation.
Prepare and adhere to annual budget for wellness and fitness programs.
Meet weekly with direct reports to discuss performance, financials, staffing, capital investments, maintaining company standards and self-improvement.
Research and analyze past events and activities to assess needs and expectations.
Gather/track information and preference of each program.
Create unique enhancements to the current experience.
Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
Research employee benefit plans and vendors to identify those that present the best value.
Design, recommend and implement benefit programs.
Assist in the management of the benefit plan renewal process.
Assist with vendor or administrator for renewal.
Examine possible plan design or benefit cost changes.
Serve as primary contact for plan vendors and third party administrators.
Evaluate and revise internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
Survey industry trends.
Monitor administrative costs of benefit programs and recommend cost containment strategies including alternative methods for administration and funding.
Provide customer service support to internal and external customers.
Develop/partner with benefits communications on tools to enhance understanding of the company’s benefit package.
Create and conduct presentations using audiovisual tools including PowerPoint and videos.
Bachelor's degree and 5 to 7 years related benefits, wellness or employee benefit administration experience required.
Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements both adopted and pending affecting employee benefit programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, SECTION 125, Workers Compensation, Medicare, OBRA, and Social Security and DOL requirements.
Analytical and detail-oriented; strong systems thinker and process improvement mentality.
Ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously, with minimal supervision.
Excellent communication and organization skills are required.
Project and team management/leadership skills and experience.
Capability of effective planning and priority setting. Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of plan designs. Ability to understand, evaluate and make judgment on the proposals (RFP’s).
Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Lotus Notes, PeopleSoft/SAP etc.
Determine proper course of action to resolve escalated customer service issues.
Interpret plan procedures and policies. Recommend and advise on benefit enhancements and changes.
Willingness to travel.
