The Time Warner Cable Texas Market, part of the West Region, currently seeks a CMTS Manager in our Engineering Department in our Austin, Texas office. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.
The CMTS Ops Manager will lead a team responsible for supporting Time Warner Cable’s DOCSIS and IP edge platforms throughout the Texas market. The team will be responsible for change management and change execution in the network, as well as troubleshooting and participating in break/fix activities as needed. Expert technical knowledge of CMTS platforms and operations will be key to the success of this leader, as well as an understanding of cable and MSO provisioning systems, Voice over IP, DHCP, DNS, IP routing (v4 and v6) as well as other related technologies. This manager will be key to the growth and sustainability of Time Warner Cable’s high speed internet service and next generation IP edge services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for building and maintaining a team of high performing network engineers that support Time Warner Cable’s CMTS operations and edge IP platforms.
Responsible for coordinating and supporting change activities and upgrades with other departments within the market and region.
Will deploy and maintain standards across the market in conjunction with the region and Time Warner Cable’s corporate policies.
Will deploy and audit the network for TWC standard configuration.
Maintain and distribute updated network documentation.
Involved in the daily operations of the organization such as port turn-ups for additional services or edge devices added to the network. There are some semi long-term objectives such as hub expansions and network expansion.
Expected to handle all aspects of day—to-day operations of the edge network including but not limited to CMTS expansions, upgrades, augmentations, troubleshooting and other related activities.
Required to be on all outage calls associated with the edge network or CMTS platforms in the market and expected to resolve or escalate the issues in a reasonable amount of time.
Expected to be aware of and recommend solutions to network vulnerabilities or expansions. Also responsible to assist in the budget process as it relates to the edge network.
Associate’s Degree required, or 4+ years of technical CMTS experience.
Must demonstrate the ability to lead people through previous positions or experience.
Must be well organized and be prepared to build and lead a team, with excellent communication and scheduling skills.
Must be able to multi-task in a fast paced environment with changing priorities as the business needs vary.
