Job Summary:
Manages and directs the overall operations for Child Life Services, which includes the Child Life Department, Artist in Residence Program, Music Therapy, Hospital School Program, and Family Resource Center. Provides leadership in the assessment, development, implementation and integration of services, as well as provides supervision to department staff.

Works in collaboration with the health care team to provide resources and staff to plan, implement, and evaluate therapeutic interventions and activities appropriate to the developmental, emotional, educational and recreational needs of patients (infants, children, adolescents and young adults) and their families.

Position Requirements:
Education:
Master’s Degree in Child Life, Child Development, Education or related field
License/Certification: Current Child Life Certification
Experience: 5 years experience as a Child Life Specialist. At least 3 years proven experience and expertise in line management commensurate with the administrative and clinical demands of the position.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability and willingness to adapt to changing priorities and aggressive project deadlines. Effective organizational and time management skills. Capacity to effectively lead interdisciplinary teams and work groups. Independent judgment and clear decision-making ability. Ability to maintain standards of performance under changing conditions. Ability to disseminate information effectively and independently with all CHRCO managers & staff with enthusiasm and humor. Knowledge of functional medical terminology. Knowledge of regulatory requirements TJC Standards, CMS, CDPH regulations, state and federal regulatory agency requirements standards and regulations as applied to Child Life Services. Knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience working in an organization/community with a diverse medical staff, workforce and patient population.
